Through the Niger Delta Low Carbon Growth Initiative, actors across government, the private sector, civil society and communities come together around different development challenges with the aim of placing the economy of the Niger Delta on a more sustainable, lower carbon, trajectory.

A cross-sector platform for stakeholder engagement and analysis, the Initiative builds on the interests of companies to conserve the Niger Delta’s unique landscapes, which includes the world’s third-largest mangrove ecosystem, for their climate services and of the Nigerian government to improve livelihoods of communities.

Together, these actors work towards holistic landscape management as well as improved livelihoods and environmental security resting on three pillars: a conservation and water management pillar; an agriculture/agroforestry and agri-tech pillar; and, an energy and clean-tech pillar.
